What is Handoff Wizard?

Handoff Wizard is a desktop application a departing employee runs during their notice period. Over roughly two weeks of part-time use it captures the operational knowledge in their head — the stuff that never made it to Confluence, Notion, or any HRIS — and ships it to their employer as an AI-queryable NotebookLM Enterprise notebook.

The successor opens that notebook on day one and asks questions like “how do we handle late billing for Customer X?” or “why did we price the SKU at $129?” and gets grounded, citation-backed answers.

Who is this for?

Today’s product (v1) targets the Operations archetype: heads of operations, COOs, ops managers, ops directors. People whose work is process-heavy, decision-archaeology-rich, and stakeholder-mapping-rich.

What happens to my data?

Source files stay on your laptop. AI calls use your Anthropic API key. Synthesis lands in your employer’s GCP NotebookLM Enterprise tenant. There is no path for your source content to reach Handoff’s servers — that’s an architectural property of the BYO-key design, not a policy.

What Handoff does collect: license activation telemetry, anonymized error reports, and per-step progress events (onboarding_completed, synthesis_completed, etc.). No content. Full details at handoffwiz.com/security.

What you need before you start

  • A project code from your employer (format: HND-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX). If you don’t have one, ask the person who told you to install Handoff.
  • An Anthropic API key with Claude access. Anthropic console.
  • A GCP service account JSON file for your employer’s GCP project (the one provisioned with NotebookLM Enterprise). Your employer’s IT person will hand you this; the file is downloaded from GCP IAM > Service Accounts.
  • About 6 hours of your time over two weeks, mostly in 30-45 minute interview blocks you can do whenever your calendar allows.
